Forrie is still doing well.. she went into the hospital last night after her cornea perforated.. late last night they stitched her third eyelid (the one you never see) across her eye to try and prevent any more of the iris coming out. today the opthamologist cut off the iris that was sticking out and stitched in a bit of artificial cornea, then sewed up a bit of conjunctival flap ( tissue from the eye thats kind of underneath what you can see). a couple of hours later and they wanted her out of there, which suited me fine.

the prognosis is good. they think that it should heal into fully functional eye, with only a weird shaped pupil to show for it.

i got home and had to administer the drugs... its hard enough to put eye drops in my own eye, but in a dog thats just had surgury.. and with a 6 ft cone around her head... ok i exaggerate .... well i jumped into it, and accidentally squirted 1/2 a pint into her eye instead of one drop.. a minor moment of panic and some major flushing and a quick call to the vet.. everything is under control now.

Forrest the cat... 2 down 7 to go.. this isn't really the place to go into details - forrie was hit by a car yesterday and has just gotten out of hospital.. she's doing incredibly well considering the state she was in when it happened. no broken bones, organ function tests were good, only bruising and blood in her lungs which doesn't seem to have gotten worse. so the signs are all good.
